Poke bowls @ Hodge

Looking for a customizable *poke bowl without leaving campus? Use a combo meal scan for a bowl and fountain drink at Hodge Hall in the Kelley School of Business. Vegetarian- and vegan-friendly bowls are available, as are gluten-free protein options, along with veggies and rice. *Avoid this station if you have seafood or shellfish allergies. Hodge also offers bagels, coffee, to-go meals, bottled drinks, and boba. IU Dietitian Lauren Bartholomew’s fave is matcha with strawberry boba. Open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Halal meats

New this fall: the pepperoni and meatballs served at Free From IX at McNutt and Worry Free at Forest are certified halal (slaughtered in accordance with Muslim law and pork-free). IU Executive Chef Dave Tallent said the change went smoothly, with very little difference in cost, and that the tasting with chefs was a success. “Everyone agreed that the flavor and texture of the pepperoni was very similar to pepperoni made with pork," Tallent said. “Some liked it better!”
